Heidi Moxham

Lead Math Teacher | Garudas and Tigers

Heidi has been involved as a Math Coach in the Garudas and Tigers classroom since late fall of 2023, motivating students and introducing complex concepts. Heidi has been integral in developing and implementing a robust math program for upper-level students at MWS. We’re so excited to announce that she’s now joining our core teaching team.

I was born and raised on Long Island and couldn’t wait to leave when I went to college. I graduated from SUNY New Paltz in 2003 with a BS in Secondary Education, concentration in mathematics. I have been in the area ever since then and can call it my true home.

I have taught quite the gamut of classes over my 20+ years of teaching, everything from 7th grade up through Calculus II, and I am excited to continue to broaden that spectrum by adding 5th and 6th grade math. I have taught in public schools and other private schools and found that math allows for such rich real-world applications and a progressive setting is much more welcoming and accommodating. I love allowing students to help direct their learning and their activities in and out of the classroom.

Having my MS in Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment has allowed me to step into additional roles beyond just teaching. I’ve developed a curriculum for almost every grade level that I have taught, and have always tweaked and changed it as the years go by. I am thrilled to have several years of that background to help apply it to the already established curriculum here at MWS and watch it grow as the school continues to do the same.

When I am not on campus, you can find me doing lots of physical things. I am a runner, a weightlifter, and an avid volleyball player. I’ve been playing volleyball since I was in 7th grade, and still now as an adult in leagues in Kingston and Pleasant Valley. My passion in volleyball led me to become a coach, and have coached both JV and Varsity girls volleyball in the area. I started distance running after my college career had ended, and that also led me into coaching local HS track and field teams. I have been happily married for the past 6 years and my husband and I have three wonderful fur-babies who are a huge part of our lives. My husband and I also began running in Spartan races in 2016 and just fell in love with obstacle course running. We are both proud of our ability to compete in our age group and do well.
