Tuition and Assistance

Supporting each other as we grow together.
Supporting each other
as we grow together.

Middle Way School thrives on the principle of inclusion.

The intention of the Middle Way School is to share our curriculum and experiences openly, in order to benefit schools and communities around the world.

We actively seek to build a community that is rich with diverse cultures, races, talents, interests, learning profiles, and economic and ethnic backgrounds. We also believe that tuition shouldn’t create hardship.

Throughout the school’s growth, we’ve had the support of a global community of friends and foundations, especially Khyentse Foundation, who wish to see our school succeed. This has allowed the school to offer support to families who might otherwise not be able to attend.

As we strive for financial sustainability and long-term growth, we ask families to carefully consider their request for tuition assistance. We hope those who are in a position to stretch their financial commitment please consider those who are not. This allows us to balance our resources and put them to use where they are most needed.

One Step Further: Narrowing the Tuition Gap

At Middle Way School, full tuition for the 2024–2025 school year is $15,070. The actual educational cost per student, however, is about $21,070, resulting in a tuition gap of $6,000. While it is very important to us that our school remains accessible, we must balance that with an eye on sustainability. Since the school first opened its doors, Khyentse Foundation has generously supported each family with a subsidy to cover the tuition gap. It is the foundation’s desire to gradually transition their financial support, in order to globally fund emerging education projects based on the Middle Way School model.

Rather than institute a sharp tuition increase across the board, we are respectfully asking those who can afford to take one step further and cover the full cost of sending their children to MWS by making a one-time tax-deductible donation of $6,000, or any amount possible above the base subsidized tuition of $15,070. This act of generosity would allow us to better meet the needs of our community while also reducing our dependence on external sources.

Applicants will be prompted about this option during the enrollment process. Those who respond positively will see a one-time donation amount added to their agreement.

We are so grateful for any and all support received.

Applying for Tuition Assistance

All requests for tuition assistance are reviewed by a committee comprised of MWS administrators and advisors. The committee reviews requests with an eye toward many factors, including availability of funds and financial need.

We depend on our partners, School and Student Services (SSS) to process and evaluate tuition assistance applications. We understand that sometimes the previous year’s numbers don’t always tell the full story, so we also ask each household to also submit a letter addressed to the MWS Tuition Assistance Committee. The letter should clearly indicate the amount you feel you can pay in tuition (not including fees), any additional explanation for their circumstances that might help us understand your needs, and why you are choosing Middle Way School for your child. Your application is complete only when you have uploaded your letter to the MWS Financial Aid Committee and have completed the Parent Financial Statement (PFS) in SSS.

The PFS is a comprehensive application. Please give yourself ample time to complete it. You’ll need your most recent tax return to begin the PFS.

Once the application and the letter have been received, the committee will review and make a determination. You will be notified of awards at the time of acceptance.

Awards are granted for one year and new applications and letters must be submitted annually.

All financial information is kept confidential and is only shared with the Tuition Assistance Committee.
