Harry Einhorn

Interim Director of Dharma Education

Harry Einhorn is a multidisciplinary artist, educator, and Dharma learning specialist. He has contributed significantly to Middle Way School as a curriculum consultant, meditation instructor, and composer of music. We are pleased to welcome Harry as Interim Director of Dharma Education for the 2026–2027 school year, a role that expands our Dharma department alongside Senior Director of Dharma Education Sarah Beasley and Dharma Education Liaison Gillian Eames.

I’m Harry, and I’m thrilled to be joining this year as the Interim Director of Dharma Education at Middle Way School. This is a bit of a homecoming, as I’ve been involved in supporting the development of the MWS and BEA Dharma curriculum since the early years.

Through my exposure to many different Buddhist cultures, I’ve come to believe that the teachings of the Buddha can be presented and engaged with in endless ways while still communicating the essential wisdom of both looking within and engaging with the world through wisdom and compassion.

I was born into a Buddhist family in New York City and, after a period of rejecting it in my teenage years (who wants to do what their parents did?), I rediscovered it on my own at Northwestern University, where I studied theater and Theater in Education. After graduation, I made my first trip to India to learn more about the tradition I grew up in.

That first trip became many, as I studied meditation, philosophy, and Tibetan language while also working in the education department at the Rubin Museum, and later giving tours for families and adults at the Met. During this time, I became more involved in the sangha I grew up in, where I began assisting with and coordinating retreats. In 2018, I joined the Milinda Program, a multi-year teacher training program sponsored by the Khyentse Foundation to train Western teachers in higher Buddhist philosophy.

Throughout this training, music and the performing arts have been an important part of my journey, as I’ve continued to explore how the Dharma can be shared in modern, relatable, and engaging ways. Through this path, I’ve been fortunate to travel the world supporting Dharma projects, which, in addition to retreats and teaching programs, have included a role in a Bhutanese film (The Monk and the Gun), publishing a children’s book (The Hero of Compassion), and composing Buddhist music for performance and group practice.

For the past six years, I’ve been living in Taipei, Taiwan, where I have been lecturing at a Buddhist university while also producing a Dharma arts stage at Wonderfruit Festival in Thailand. During this time, I also completed a teacher certification to further prepare me to support children’s education in the Dharma. With these experiences behind me, I’m honored to have the chance to support the dharma curriculum at Middle Way School, with the aspirations that we all touch into and remember our innate wisdom and goodness in order to help the world.
