Guthrie Lord

Guthrie Lord

MUSIC TEACHER

Guthrie Lord teaches music every Tuesday at Middle Way. The students are learning about the different elements that make up music and have started ukulele class.

Guthrie was born in New Hampshire. He studied jazz at Berklee College of Music, and sound design at Vancouver Film School before moving to Kingston, NY in 2005. Contributing to dozens of projects in the Hudson Valley over the years, including children’s music group Grenadilla, ambient-rock ensemble A Viberatto, and most recently the powerhouse ska/reggae band The Big Takeover, he began teaching piano, guitar, and bass at the School of Rock, Paul Green’s Rock Academy, and started at the Middle Way School in September of 2019.

Guthrie is also a recording engineer. Since 2012, he has worked at Elizabeth Mitchell and Dan Littleton’s studio helping record, edit, and mix music with young musicians and world-class artists alike. In 2014, Elizabeth’s album “The Sounding Joy” received a Grammy nomination for Children’s Record of The Year.

Always looking for opportunities to practice mindfulness in music, Guthrie is grateful for the chance to teach at Middle Way, and excited to learn more from the students as well.
