Catherine Fordham
Communication Coordinator
We are so pleased that Catherine joined Middle Way, with her innate creativity and her experience as a second generation Buddhist. It’s rare to find someone with her distinct qualities. In 2021-2022, she worked closely with Noa on the dharma curriculum, helping to invent songs, rituals, engaging lessons, teacher/parent development and our graduation ceremonies, while also supporting MWS administration. While she will be scaling back in 2022-2023 to focus on her film work, she will continue to support Middle Way communications.
I grew up in Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche’s Buddhist community in Colorado and Nova Scotia. I attended a Buddhist “Sunday school” called Bodhi School, participated in two Rites of Passage programs (at 8 and 16), attended the Shambhala Sun summer camp, and a Buddhist kindergarten and Middle School. The vibrant culture of my childhood imbues everything I do today, and I’m thrilled to be a part of the Middle Way community to continue the thread.
An actor since age 8, I eventually transitioned to working behind the camera as a screenwriter and director. My short films have screened at festivals worldwide, and I’m in the process of making my first narrative feature. I consider my training in contemplative performance under Carolyn Kanjuro, a student of Chogyam Trungpa, as the core of my creative work and the heart of my practice as an artist. A recent upstate transplant from Brooklyn, I have a newfound passion for gardening, foraging, and exploring the wilds of the Northeast.
