Cara Baker

Cara Baker

Admissions and Enrollment Coordinator

Cara wears many hats in her role as Admissions and Enrollment Coordinator. Cara is the first and primary point of contact for families interested in joining Middle Way School, and supports all families through the admissions and enrollment process each year. Cara also plays a pivotal role in supporting day-to-day operations. Have a general question about the school day? Bus transportation? School records? Health policies? Cara is the one to ask!  We couldn’t be happier to have someone with Cara’s creativity, attention to detail, and can-do spirit in this pivotal role.

My family and I have made the Catskills our home, and we feel lucky to live in such a beautiful place where we are able to spend much of our time outdoors.

After earning a BA in Communications at the University of Kentucky, I attended culinary school in Chicago. I’ve spent many years working as a chef, bread baker, cheese-monger, and general manager.

Although I continue to have a passion for food, I have a growing interest in education systems, child development, philosophy and Buddhism, which have all led me to MWS. I am grateful to be a part of this community and I am looking forward to diving deeper into learning and living the dharma.

I have always enjoyed working with kids and my fascination with their imagination and love of learning has grown since becoming a parent. This has inspired me to continue to learn, grow, play and create. I practice RIE, have studied and practice NVC (Nonviolent Communication) and volunteer as a group leader with our local girl scout troop. I live in Shokan with my husband, PJ, and our 2 kids Finley and Josie, who both attend MWS. I enjoy yoga, hiking, knitting, family art hour and dance parties!
