Music Teacher

Nicola joins our team as Music Teacher, guiding students of all ages. She has extensive experience with musical performance and sharing her joy for music with young learners. We’re grateful to have her inspiring perspective!

I am an alumnus of SUNY New Paltz and the Longy School of Music, having recently earned my Bachelors in Violin Performance and my Masters in Music Education. As a music educator, I believe in the importance of building community through music. My classroom is filled with singing, dancing, playing, and much more. I inform my students about musical traditions both familiar and new to us. I hope to help every child achieve their musical goals, whether they aspire to someday play Carnegie Hall or their local campfire. The inspiration for my music philosophy can be summed up by a quote from ethnomusicologist Wanda Bryant:

“I think that one of the most important things is to keep your ears open. Keep your ears open to unusual sounds, things that you may find a little uncomfortable now. With a little bit of listening, some of those may become the favorite sounds in your musical world.”

Outside of music, I love cooking, contra dancing, drawing, and playing with my cats.
