Naomi Selwyn
Lead Teacher | Fawns
Naomi is joins Middle Way School as Lead Teacher for the Fawns class—our youngest pre-K students. Her wealth of perspective on child-centered learning is an ideal compliment to our dharma-based curriculum. We are so delighted to have Naomi join our team.
I’m thrilled to be joining MWS as the Lead Fawns Teacher. For the past eight years, I’ve taught four-year-olds at City and Country School in New York City, where I had the opportunity to work in a progressive setting and design play-based and inquiry-driven curriculum.
I hold a Master’s in Early Childhood and Childhood General Education from Bank Street College and a BFA from the School of Visual Arts. I’m especially passionate about social-emotional learning, equity in education, and hands-on, creative exploration. One of my favorite parts of teaching is being surprised and inspired by children’s thinking. If you watch closely, you will learn from children. It is truly incredible how they are constantly learning, exploring, and making sense of the world around them.
When I’m not at school, I enjoy spending time with my family and creating and experiencing art. I also love hiking, baking, skiing, biking, and knitting. I’m so excited to be part of the sweet community at MWS.
