Susan Shaftan Perrin

Business Manager

I am a woman of many talents: a thoughtful and focused business analyst, a fine and applied artist, an avid gardener, a good friend and loving family member. With extensive experience in management, finance, education, and the arts, my career has focused on the maintenance of economic wellness and the creation of successful community programs. Since moving upstate from Jersey City 20+ years ago, I have served as the CFO of a local food company, the Operations Manager for a solar company, the Executive Director of the Rondout Valley Growers Association, the Office & Logistics Manager for Allaire Studios and bookkeeper for Lederman’s Children’s Center, the Hudson Valley Current and other local enterprises.

I earned my BA in Creative Expression from Empire State College, SUNY and studied traditional ceramics in Japan. Inspired by nature, my work is beautiful to look at, to hold and to use. I have developed arts and environmental curriculum, taught as an artist in the schools, and have received multiple arts-in-education grants from Arts Mid-Hudson and the New Jersey State Council on the Arts.

I grew up in NYC and now live halfway up a mountain on a dead end road in an artsy house surrounded by woods. I am grateful to be able to able to help support the financial management of Middle Way School and hope to facilitate a streamlined approach to this work.
