Ruth Bloom

Garudas Assistant Teacher

Ruth joined us as Assistant Teacher to the Garudas in the 2022-2023 school year. She works alongside Zak Carey, guiding our oldest friends, the Garudas. Ruth has a well-established career as a multi-disciplinary teacher. She has taught students from elementary school to university level. A graduate of Rhode Island School of Design, she specializes in infusing arts into the academic experience. We’re grateful for her grounding and inspiring presence in the classroom.

I truly enjoy being an educator! I started my teaching path with a certification from California State University in 1983. Throughout the course of my career, I’ve taught preschool, elementary, high school, and college. I’ve had the pleasure of interacting with all ages and appreciating each student’s developmental differences. I also have extensive experience in Special Education and as a librarian.

Outside of the classroom, I am also a practicing artist. I work in mixed-media painting, textiles, and sculptural handmade paper. I’m grateful to be at the Middle Way School, where art holds a significant priority in the everyday curriculum.

I recently moved to the area so I could be near my granddaughter as she grows and flourishes!
